The Best Street Styles at Milan Fashion Week 2017

Milan Fashion Week (MFW) is one of the world’s most prestigious fashion weeks of all, it’s held twice a year (typically in February and September, like all other fashion weeks.) As well as being able to buy clothes and accessories at the event, there are many catwalks where designers and big brands can display their upcoming collections for the Spring or Summer of the next year.

However, not all the amazing designs actually are on the catwalk. A lot of the amazing trendsetters walk the streets highlighting their style and often these are better than what you would see on the catwalk itself. Street style is able to show off people being themselves and expressing who they are through clothing and the way they dress.

Milan is a city in Italy that particularly flaunts the way people dress and takes pride in how everyone looks, so when you’re out on the streets of Milan you can be rest-assured that everyone will look amazing, especially at Milan fashion week 2017.

Often, the catwalk looks great but, people aren’t going to wear what the models do out and about in real life. When designers and brands create clothing that is more geared towards people who want to wear them in everyday life, they are always more likely to sell a lot easier.

Fashionistas love looking good but they will always draw the line at things that are totally out of their comfort zone (understandably.) We thought it was only fitting to showcase some of the amazing street styles and women apparel that were rocked during Milan fashion week 2017

All-In-Ones

Due to Milan fashion week 2017 being in September, it’s a month of clothing uncertainty in terms what not knowing what to wear, the weather in Europe is always sunny then cold day-in-day-out but wearing a jumpsuit means you cover all eventualities in terms of the weather.
Red is so in this fall, and that’s probably why it was so popular on and off the runways.

You can always pair your jumpsuit with some simple jewellery such as a choker or little bangles, this allows the main focus to stay as the jumpsuit rather than the accessories. Adding a fabric belt (or even a leather one) can complete and finish the look completely.

Denim for Days

The best street styles are always those that look the most natural, often we find that those with simple outfits are the most popular. So many fashionistas chose to go chic with outfits at Milan fashion week 2017. Denim is a popular choice along with thin, A-line jackets and simple t-shirts or vests. September is a perfect month to wear an outfit like this as you won’t be too warm, but you also won’t be too cold.

Whether you want to pair your outfit with dark navy jeans or even light navy jeans it will look good. A popular combination at MFW was jeans and t-shirts but particularly ripped jeans, right now the trend is so popular that virtually everyone is rocking ripped jeans, it doesn’t matter how ripped they are, as long as there is one rip in them!

This lovely fashionista played her outfit down but it definitely paid off, as the ‘not trying look’ suits her more than anything. At a fashion event such as MFW its often hard to pick what to wear as everyone looks amazing but when you wear something like this it’s always effective. People never think you’re not trying, it’s more about the fact that they think you look fabulous!

We’re always so worried about what people think but in reality, if you feel comfortable and confident then anything will look good. The purpose of street styles and street fashion is to showcase what can look goof off the catwalk instead of being obsessed with what is on it, we can always appreciate the amazing, and unique designs that designers create but we will always know that street style is better.

Boot it Up

Fall is a time to take those brightly-coloured summer dresses, sandals and shorts off and trade them for something a little bit more fitting, boots and black attire. I love colours, especially in clothing but when it comes to the winter months it’s so much easier to wear darker clothes as it simply goes better with the weather.

A big trend in street style at Milan fashion week 2017 was black, heeled boots (just like the ones in the photo.) So many fashionistas paired them with their stylish, classy outfits it was hard to see our favourites.

The great thing about the fall is that tights are back for the next few months and that also means we can look fashionable but also be warm at the same time. The most popular thing to pair boots with is skirts (maybe rustic orange or navy), blouses and some nice thick tights.

Oh, I do love Fall and Winter! They’re always my favourite months because I love getting dressed up in big coats, scarves and gloves and going out rocking the look completely!

Milan fashion week 2017 really did highlight some amazing and beautiful street styles, and I think that is the whole beauty of why Milan is one of the best fashion weeks – because everyone (regardless of who they are or where they come from) makes a huge effort to look the part.
After all, it’s about being able to look fashionable and deliver yourself as the clothing-loving you are. Whether you’re looking at something to wear this season, or you’re just here to learn about Milan street styles I think we’ve covered everything you need.
